DAY-19: Puerto Chacabuco - Sheila's Birthday Day – 19: Saturday, March 7, 2020 Starting Location:  At Sea Aboard the M.S. Marina Interim Location: Anchored at Puerto Chacabuco, Chile Ending Location:  At Sea Aboard the M.S. Marina When we awoke the ship was anchored off shore from Puerto Chacabuco, a small town that has no tourist industry or infrastructure. Fish Farm It does have water deep enough for cruise ships but some think we're here simply to avoid three "sea days" in a row. There are tours from here and we'll be on one. For starters, Ismial showed up with birthday croissants for Sheila in celebration of the big day Birthday # __ (one more than last year). That was in addition to a multi-colored fresh fruit breakfast. Our tour for the day began at 8:30 when we boarded the ship's tender to go ashore. The ride in was a bit choppy but the distance was short.   At the landing we were met b...

DAY-18: Fjords & Glaciers - Stormy Weather Day – 18: Friday, March 6, 2020 Starting Location:  At Sea Aboard the M.S. Marina Ending Location:  At Sea Aboard the M.S. Marina Overnight the weather deteriorated and by morning we were in a full fledged gale. There would limited outdoor activity today. Again without a busy scheduled we opted for a late breakfast. Suspect there were many who had little interest in food this morning. And yes, the little white twist tie airline bags were stationed around the ship. For the morning Sheila played bridge and we attended another enrichment lecture by Dr. Kus, today's subject was "The Chilean Lake District". This guy can talk about almost any subject as it relates to the peoples and history of South America. I guess if you do all the work to acquire such a variety of degrees, you must know something about almost everything in your area of expertise. Part way through the lecture the Captain came on with an announce...

DAY-17: Fjords & Glaciers of Chile Day – 17: Thursday, March 5, 2020 Starting Location:  At Sea Aboard the M.S. Marina Ending Location:  At Sea Aboard the M.S. Marina Being it was a sea day we had a late breakfast, well it was at 8:30, not real late.   This cruise is entitled "Mystical Fjords", today the naming should become more obvious as we enter the fjords and glacial regions along the Chilean coast. The onboard highlight for today's entertainment was the cooking demonstration by Senior Executive Chef Farid Oudir and Chef de Cuisine Toscana, Luca Brambilla. I think we had seen these two guys perform on another of our cruises. They're a great match one French the other Italian, I'll leave it to your imagination to decide who is whom (Is that proper??).  Today's menu included: Not sure what this is other than something topped with a soft cooked egg. The two chefs have a great Fr...
